Use of dogs to search school property

USE OF DOGS TO SEARCH SCHOOL PROPERTY

The Billerica School Committee shall permit the administration to invite law enforcement agencies or other qualified agencies or individuals to search school property with dogs trained for the purpose of detecting the presence of illegal substances, when necessary to protect the health and safety of students, employees or property and to detect the presence of illegal substances or contraband, including alcohol and/or drugs. School Committee establishes calendar policy

When Labor Day falls on September 1,2,3 or 4 in any year, the school year will begin with teachers on the Tuesday after Labor Day and with students on the Wednesday after Labor Day.  When Labor Day falls on September 5, 6, or 7 in any year, the school will begin with teachers on the Monday prior to Labor Day and with students on the Tuesday prior to Labor Day.  In such years, the Friday before Labor Day will be a no school day.
